The Expo in Genova in 1992 was made to celebrated the fifth centenary of Cristoforo Colombo discovery of the Americas . It lasted three months from May 15th until August 15th and the theme was “Cristoforo Colombo – The Ship and The Sea”.
Many projects and new constructions has been developed at the Genova Antique Harbor to celebrate this event with the supervision of the famous architect Renzo Piano, who was born in Genova. The most relevant constructions of the Expo there were the Aquarius, the Panoramic Elevator and the Bigo, The Museum of the Sea, the Congress Center, the Navigation and Sea Pavillion.
At the concert organized to celebrate the opening of the Expo Francesco Sanavio provided the international artists: Emerson Lake & Palmer, Matt Bianco, Sarah Jane Morris, Phillip Glass and Ligabue.
