In 1990 at the Sanremo Festival all the italian artists in the musical competition had to find an international artist who could perform their version of the song.
That year Toto Cotugno asked Francesco Sanavio to find a partner to sing his song “Gli Amori” and he suggested to invite at the Sanremo Festival the genius Ray Charles. All the journalists criticized this partnership, saying that they had nothing in common and that it would have been a major failure. Well, the standing ovation at the end of Ray Charles performance of “Good Love Gone Bad” proved that they were wrong, a success that went down in history.
