Emerson Lake & Palmer, the british rock band band founded in 1970 by Keith Emerson, Greg Lake and Carl Palmer, became extremely famous in the early 70s with the release of three successful albums “Emerson Lake & Palmer”, “Tarkus” and “Trilogy”.
They came in Italy for the first time in 1972. Francesco Sanavio was the promoter of the three dates in Genova at the Palazzo dello Sport on June 15th, in Bologna at the Stadio Comunale on the 25th and Rome at Palaeur on June 26th.
In 1973 they came back to Italy to do another series of concerts always with Francesco Sanavio. The italian dates were Bologna – Stadio Comunale on April 30th, Rome – Stadio Flaminio on May the 2nd, Bologna again on May 3rd and Milano on May 4th.
Emerson Lake & Palmer broke up in 1979 after the release of the album “Love Beach” that was an authentic flop. This album, made to fulfill contractual obligations, was an attempt to hit the pop charts but indeed it became a product too far from identity of the band.
THE BLACK MOON WORLD TOUR
In 1991, Emerson Lake & Palmer reformed and issued a 1992 comeback album “Black Moon” followed by a very successful world tour in 1992-93.
In 1992 Francesco Sanavio did the italian date of the “Black Moon World Tour” at the Arena in Verona on September 26th.
That same year Francesco Sanavio was the promoter of another important event, the opening ceremony of the EXPO 1992 in Genova on May 18th and among other internationaltists he brought there Emerson Lake & Palmer among other international artists like Matt Bianco, Sarah Jane Morris, Ligabue and Phillip Glass.
